Amadou Diallo Scholars
The second is a program of academic research
in the sciences and humanities. The rapid pace of globalization is daily
bringing people and nations around the world into ever-closer contact
with one another. The Foundation is committed to the development of better
understanding between nations, cultures, and people and seeks to achieve
this ambitious goal by supporting scholars who are committed to do research,
develop programs, or analyze policies that will promote global harmony
and greater understanding between people of different races, ethnicities,
and cultures. Toward this end, the Foundation will commit to raising funds
to support the work of five Amadou Diallo Scholars each year. Scholars
each year. Scholars may be undergraduate or graduate students, or even
college and/or university faculty members. As with the Amadou Diallo Scholarships,
applicants from both African and the United States will be encouraged
to apply.
Awards will be based on the annual competition in which
prospective Scholars will submit proposals describing the research and/or
projects that they will undertake with modest funding from the Foundation.
Proposals will be assessed based on the like contribution
that proposed projects would make towards achieving the goals and objectives
of the Foundation. It is our expectation that with each passing years
of its operation, the Scholars will grow in number. Eventually, we expect
that they will constitute an important network of researchers, practitioners,
and policy makers whose collective impact will contribute hugely to our
understanding of how to build and maintain healthy, safe, and productive
communities. |
