In honor of the 8th anniversary Of the fatal NYPD shooting of Amadou
Diallo, Madame Kadiatou Diallo and The Honorable David Dinkins will host
a special screening of the award-winning documentary film Death of Two
Sons, on Friday, February 2, 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at The Riverside Church,
Assembly Hall and Room 9T, 91 Claremont Ave. (bet. 120th & 122nd St.),
Morningside Heights.
Death of Two Sons explores the tragic death of Amadou Diallo and reveals
for the first time the untold intertwining life stories of Amadou and
Jesse Thyne, a white Peace Corps volunteer from Pasadena, California.
Jesse was assigned to Amadou's home village in Guinea, West Africa, where
he was 'adopted' by members of Amadou's family and lived in their home.
Jesse was present at Amadou's funeral in Guinea and grieved with his family.
A year later Jesse was also killed unexpectedly, in circumstances that
allude to a deeper spiritual connection to Amadou's death.
